Rites of Sending and
Election 2006 |
For the catechumen, the Lent season signified the initialization
of the two Rites, a 40 day period of spiritual steadfast which would prepare
them to take steps closer to the Catholic faith. In the Rite of Sending at St
Boniface, approximately fifty catechumens—nine of which were Vietnamese (6
adults, 3 children)—signed their names in an Election book on Saturday the 4th.
The catechumens were then received and blessed by Bishop Tod Brown in the Rite
of Election at St Columban on Monday 6th, in time to prepare them for the last
journey of Purification on Easter.
The names of Vietnamese catechumen are:
Phương Trần
Huân Phạm
Nhung Nguyễn
Nina–Huai Tu Chen
Thuân Trần
Quốc-Kevin Trần
Kevin Tộ
And the young:
Michael Tộ
David Tộ
Nolan Phạm
Michelle Phạm
The Rites allowed the catechumen to reflect upon their devotion
and commitment to the Catholic faith, which would enable them to become sons and
daughters of God through Purification. In the spirit of our church
community, may your prayers continue in petition for catechumen so that the
Faith and Trust in God be with them as they journey towards the baptism on
Easter, in the glory of our risen Lord.
